Governing Board
The Governing Board sets strategic directions and objectives (organizational, programmatic, and financial), and monitors and oversees progress, management, and operations. Individual Governing Board members contribute to the exercise of their duties and engage in the Governing Board's activities by actively participating in meetings, decision-making processes, and fulfilling their responsibilities towards the organization's governance and strategic direction.
In particular, it is anticipated that members will contribute substantial assistance to the organization's resource mobilization and new business growth, and public image projection and protection.
Board Responsibilities
The following are the general responsibilities of the Governing Board of Directors:
1. Exercise overall responsibility and accountability for the decisions, actions and activities of the Organization.
2. Establish and review the mission, goals and objectives of the Organization.
3. Set and review policy in all areas of need, as appropriate.
4. Monitor and oversee execution of all Governing Board decisions and directives.
5. Discuss and decide overall strategic directions and objectives of the Organization.
6. Provide ethical leadership based on an ethical foundation
7. Review performance and progress, programs, management, finance and operations, including partnerships and arrangements with institutional stakeholders.
8. Manage potential conflict of interests of its members, management, the shareholder and other relevant stakeholders with a low tolerance of conflicts; and
9. Ensure that succession plans are in place in respect of key positions

Dr. Margaret Neizer (Representing KVP-Paediatric TB Experts)Board Chair
Dr. Margaret Neizer is General Paediatrician with 18 years of experience with the GHS currently practicing at the Princess Marie Louise Children's hospital in Accra. She is a member of the Ghana Thoracic Society, the Paediatric Society of Ghana, the Ghana Medical Association and the KVP Constituency of the StopTB Partnership.
She is also a Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and the West African College of Physicians.
She is passionate about Paediatric TB and has a wealth of experience in this field.

Dr. Francis Adjei Osei (Ph.D., ESQ) - Representing Legal Experts specializing in Human Rights mattersBoard Vice-Chair
Dr. Francis Adjei Osei holds a Doctoral Degree in Public Health, a Master’s degree in Health Services Planning and Management, Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health and Allied Sciences, Degree in Law and a Professional Diplomas in Project Management and Health Information Management, Degree and professional certification in Law. Francis worked as a Research Consultant and Senior Technical Officer (TB Lead in the Community systems Strengthening program) for the Global Fund and Christian Health Association of Ghana, respectively. He also served as the Program Manager for KNUST School of Medical Science where he managed a number of projects including the Austere Consortium for Enhanced Sepsis Outcome (ACESO study) and Severe Malaria; A Research and Trials Consortium (SMAART study), He also served as a Program Manager at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR), and Data Manager at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi, Ghana in the CORONIS multicentre trial.
He also served as the Senior Health Specialist and Research Manager with Clean Air Fund and Simprints, respectively two leading development organisations in the United Kingdom. Francis is passionate about community health and is credited with twenty-nine peer reviewed publications in reputable journals in the areas of Infectious Diseases, NCDs, NTDs and eHealth.
He is a Professional Lawyer called to the Ghana Bar and a member of the Ghana Bar Association, Ghana Association of Public Health Technical Officers and the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.

Mr. Jerry Amoah-Larbi (Representative of the Affected Population)Board Secretary & National Coordinator
Mr. Jerry Amoah-Larbi is an accountant by profession and serves as the Board Secretary and National Coordinator of the Ghana National TB Voice Network (GNTBVN). Having personally experienced TB in 2010, Jerry transformed his journey into a lifelong commitment to TB advocacy, focusing on awareness creation, stigma reduction, and community engagement. His lived experience positions him as a strong and empathetic voice for TB-affected populations.
In his role at GNTBVN, he leads the coordination of TB Champions nationwide and supports the planning and implementation of key advocacy and case-finding initiatives. As Board Secretary, he contributes to governance processes, ensures proper documentation, and plays a central role in stakeholder engagement and institutional development.
Jerry previously served as a member of Ghana’s Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM), where he represented affected communities and sat on both the Executive Committee and the Oversight Committee on HIV/TB. His work continues to reflect a strong commitment to ensuring that TB policies and programs in Ghana are inclusive, community-led, and grounded in the realities of those most affected.

Chief Austin Obiefuna - Representing bilateral/Multilateral OrganizationsBoard Member
Mr. Obiefuna Austin Arinze is a Law graduate from Nigeria resident in Ghana. He used to be a Member of the Developing Country NGO Constituency Delegation to the Stop TB Partnership. Mr. Obiefuna is the Executive Director of Afro Global Alliance. He has chalked many successes including advising governments, CSOs and other partners on public health design and implementation and integrated support programmes including behavioral change, human rights and building partnerships.
He has also served in other capacities, was a member and former Vice-Chair of the Ghana Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism CCM, former member of the Ghana National TB Advisory Board, and was the founding National Coordinator of the Stop TB Partnership Ghana. Mr. Obiefuna is a World Health Organisation consultant and a member of the WHO AFRO Regional Green Light Committee.

Mavis Offei Achaempong - Representative from the Media Coalition on TBBoard Member
Mavis Offei Acheampong holds a Diploma in Mass Communication from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) and Degree in Business Administration (HR option) from Methodist University Ghana (MUG). Mavis is a Media Communications Development expert with expertise in media content, social media advocacy and science communication. She is Broadcast Journalist with Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) passionate about issues of Women and Children, GBV, TB, Malaria & HIV/AIDS, Mental health as well as Community Development.
A multiple award winner of the Merck Foundation "More than a Mother Media awards" for West Africa-2021/2022/2023/2024. 2025 winner UK-Ghana Science, Technology and Innovation Media Pitch on ST&I reporting. Best feature writer awards- Ghana Journalist Association (2021).
Best Reporter Malaria Excellence awards 2021. A Fellow of the West Africa- ICFJ/AWJP GBV Fellowship program (2020). Fellow Global Fund and Thomson Reuters Foundation (2020). Women’s Voice Program Host, Real Time Host and a philanthropist.

Ms. Rita Afriyie - Representing Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)Board Member
She is a seasoned development management professional with over ten years of experience in public health, particularly in HIV and AIDS programming. She currently serves as the Technical Coordinator for the Greater Accra Technical Support Unit of the Ghana AIDS Commission, where she leads the coordination and monitoring of regional HIV responses.
Rita holds a Master’s degree in Development Management, a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration, and a Bachelor’s degree in Management Studies. She is passionate about community empowerment, gender equity, and health systems strengthening.

Dr. Aliyu Mohammed- Representing Academic Institutions (School of Public Health)Board Member
Aliyu Mohammed is a Senior Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. His career is dedicated to advancing tuberculosis (TB) research by harnessing data-driven decision-making, digital health innovations, and robust Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and biostatistical frameworks. With a strong track record in both academic research and programmatic implementation, he has played a pivotal role in designing and evaluating targeted interventions to improve TB care and control.
Dr. Mohammed’s work is grounded in the integration of cutting-edge digital health solutions—including mobile-based data collection systems, geo-spatial analytics, and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) platforms—to enhance TB surveillance, reduce stigma, and promote patient-centered care. His collaborative efforts with national and international partners, such as the National Tuberculosis Program (NTP), World Health Organization (WHO), and the Global Fund, underscore his commitment to translating research into actionable strategies that inform policy and practice.
By leveraging innovative technologies and advanced analytics, he aims to strengthen TB detection, improve treatment outcomes, and enhance health system responsiveness, particularly in high-burden and resource-constrained settings.
